The US Healthcare System: Still Sicko!
Sorry I haven't been active much the past couple days but I have no internet access at home (and might not for a while), have been wild busy at work and had a medical emergency a couple days ago so figured I'd post this stuff since I had a first hand look at how nuts the US healthcare system really is:

The GOP ratchets up against Obama
From the Boston Globe 'Political Intelligence' blog:
"It's clear whom Republicans believe they'll be facing this fall for president. The Republican National Committee today launched a new website inviting voters to raise questions about Barack Obama's positions and qualifications.Click here for the the full post.
The site, similar to one that the Democratic National Committee has had for weeks about presumptive GOP nominee John McCain, features a video with foreboding music that tries to raise troubling questions."

Republican Congressman Fossella Admits To Fathering Love Child

Another 'moral' scandal from the 'Family Values' Republicans:
"Congressman Vito Fossella released a statement today admitting to having fathered a three-year-old daughter out of wedlock, just a week after being arrested on DWI charges.
The 43-year-old Staten Island congressman, who is married with three legitimate children, said he was having an affair with a Virginia woman named Laura Fay and has a toddler with her.
He released a statement this morning saying:
"My personal failings and imperfections have caused enormous pain to the people I love and I am truly sorry," said Fossella."

New artists: Yung Nate and Charles Hamilton

Eskay just put something up on this kid Charles Hamilton who I've been hearing about for a minute through my dudes Jeff and Dave 'cos they were f-cking with a group he was in but I never actually knew his last name! Now that I do, I figured I'd post a couple of his songs that I was diggin' from his group days (I guess he's going for dolo now after recently signing to Interscope):
- "Stutter"- sampling Charlie Brown!
- One More Time" - I could be wrong on my chronology here, 'cos it's been a minute, but I think he actually did this joint sampling Daft Punk's "One More Time" before Kanye's "Stronger" dropped.

BTW: I got a pair of those Adidas Top 10's that homeboy on the left is holding in the picture! Great pair of sneakers....

Here we go again....
The Bob Marley "I Shot the Sherriff" music is kind of distracting even if grimly apropos so see the original Fox News Philly clip of this savage multi-police officer beating of three alleged police shooting suspects here (or on YouTube here).
And let's not forget those of us whose encounters with the police thankfully don't end in death or injury (like me):

New video: Riot Squad feat. Joe Budden & Stack Bundles - "You Know What'll Happen"
New video featuring the alleged 'final' performance by Stack Bundles (R.I.P.) But hmm, where have I heard this beat before? Yeah, yeah internet nerds I know: apparently, this Riot Squad (who.they??) track was the first to use this beat but, while it ain't bad, I prefer Swizzy's version:

I'm moving this week....

FINALLY! it's the moment I've been dreading for almost two years now after 8 years in the same apt. During that time my vinyl collection ballooned to over 3000 records (as well as a couple thousand CD's) Why couldn't Serato have been invented in 2000??
In the meantime though posts are likely to be of an especially quick 'n dirty variety (I mean, even more so than usual that is) until I'm settled, have internet access in my new place etc.
Joy Division documentary (trailer)
Can you tell I picked up a copy of the Sunday New York Times (which happened to include their 'Summer Movie Preview') for the first time in a while this weekend?

Barack Obama on NBC's Meet The Press - 5.4.08
New artist: Karina Pasian - "16 @ War" (video)
This was sent to me with a note calling her the "Next Alicia Keys!" Karina, who apparently speaks seven languages, was also co-signed by Lil Mama last week on '106 & Park' as someone else making music with a message when she was asked what other young artists she liked. I have to agree - the bubblegum throwaway stuff is cool but it's good to see more of these younger artists trying to do something with some meaning. I'm glad Karina came out while she's still actually young 'cos she's been signed to Def Jam (by Hov) for a while now! The graffiti-covered grand piano in the video is kind of cute (n/h) too!

Top Clinton Advisor Slurs Indiana Voters Back in '92?
Calling them, "Worthless White N-ggers"??!! Tough to really tell from the clip above although maybe not....
- Contested video spreads like wildfire online. [WaPo]
- Clinton advisor claims Indiana slur video is a conspiracy. [HuffPo]
- Mickey Kantor totally called Indiana people sh-t. [Wonkette]
He does seem to call the people of Indiana sh-t although the HuffPo article linked above makes mention of a dispute of even that interpretation. More to come on this story, I'm sure!

New single: Soulja Boy - "iDance"
First single from the new album iSouljaBoy premiered on YouTube (of course!). Good grief though: this is basically a business case study of the Soulja Boy phenomenon set to a beat with (very liberal amounts of) "Crank Dat" mixed in for good measure. I actually think he's putting this out too soon given the fact that his SouljaBoyTellEm.com album is still selling and quietly creeping towards platinum. Is he gonna keep winning based on this new track though?

UPDATE:
I guess maybe my question above got answered cos a new video ("She Gotta Donk")got leaked yesterday. Idolator claims its due to the lukewarm reaction to "iDAnce" but has that been even out there long enough to gauge a real reaction and would they have had time to shoot, edit and get a new video out there, even one as no-frills looking as this one?

Apparently getting played back-to-back-to-back on ATL radio the same way they still do new Jay joints up here: Jeezy and Yeezy together for the first single (?) from Mr. 17.5's new album? Check Ye's T-Pain impersonation on his verse:

The most gangster video out now, period!
I don't know what's the most shocking:
1. The night and day difference between this and the video for their kiddie chorus-laced crossover success last single, "D.A.N.C.E."
2. The fact that this is a video for a dance record or
3. The fact that the dudes in Justice are both supposedly pretty serious Christians!
